Case Study – Healthcare

The Spencer Municipal Hospital is a 500 employee health care facility that serves the needs of rural patients across northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota. When they decided to build a new Surgery Unit and Cancer Center, they turned to Climate Systems, Inc. to install the temperature and humidity control system. The Spencer Surgical Unit includes eight operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms and a special procedures area.

It goes without saying, a surgery suite requires precise temperature and humidity controls due to the critical nature of the work being  performed. Climate Systems outfitted the Spencer Municipal Hospital’s new Surgery Unit with a 100,000 CFM Built-Up Air handling unit. This system utilizes redundant supply fans to provide the desired comfort level in the hospital’s surgery wing. The result is an optimized level of comfort and energy expenditure.

Like most new buildings of it’s kind, the Spencer Surgical Unit is web-enabled which means the building’s temperature and humidity levels can be monitored and adjusted remotely through the Internet  or, of course, at the facility itself. While technology is great, it is also comforting to know that if an issue does arise, Climate Systems’ professional engineers and technicians are only a phone call and  short drive away.
