Swegon’s Chilled Beam System Provides Smart Design and Comfort

Optimizing Comfort & Efficiency with Swegon Chilled Beams

Bell Bank recently unveiled its new headquarters in Fargo, North Dakota, after an extensive renovation and expansion of a 1970s-era building. Designed by MBN Engineering Office and Stroh Architects, the updated facility prioritizes both comfort and sustainability. A key element in achieving this balance was the integration of Swegon’s advanced variable air volume chilled beam system, which provides exceptional energy efficiency while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment year-round.

Tailored Comfort for Every Space

The chilled beam system at Bell Bank Tower features PARASOL Zenith units in offices and common areas, PRIMO induction units in conference rooms, and PARAGON Wall units in elevator lobbies. This strategic placement ensures that each area of the building receives targeted climate control based on its unique needs.

To maximize performance, demand control ventilation adjusts temperature and CO2 levels in individual zones. Unique air control dampers prevent “air dumping,” even when airflow is reduced, delivering consistent comfort throughout the building.

Year-Round Heating and Cooling

The system’s 2-pipe chilled beams are equipped with 6-pipe control valves in each room, allowing seamless transition between heating and cooling as needed. For added comfort during colder months, perimeter radiant heaters provide supplemental warmth, ensuring every corner of the building remains comfortable.

Results That Speak for Themselves

After a full year of operation, Bell Bank’s facility management team reported high satisfaction with the building’s overall comfort and performance. The Swegon chilled beam system not only optimized indoor conditions but also delivered significant energy savings, aligning with the project’s long-term sustainability goals. This project is a strong example of how Swegon’s complete chilled beam systems can transform commercial spaces into efficient, comfortable environments for both employees and visitors.
